Build your computer - the parts of the motherboard can make you more wise to choose your own computer parts
When you are planning to build your computer, you must understand the parts of the motherboard. This is essential for you to know the importance of each part and what makes your system slower or faster. And the good thing is that you'll learn to choose your own computer parts wisely.
The following table explains the main parts of the motherboard
CPU socket - is a part of the motherboard that holds the processor in place. Sometimes called ZIF (zero insertion force) because it allows the processor to be inserted without resistance or effort and be locked in place proper arm leverage.
Chipset - It comes with two parts the Northbridge and Southbridge chipset. The Northbridge handles communications between the processor, RAM, ROM BIOS, PCI-E and AGP, it also connects the Southbridge. Southbridge manages the capabilities of the motherboard such as the slower SATA, IDE, USB, audio and network Local. In short, the Northbridge is a memory controller for speed and capacity of Southbridge is a controller I / O capabilities of a slowdown. AMD64 processors in Northbridge has been built into the processor.
Memory Slot - holds the memory module of your computer. It sometimes is called memory banks. It has 2 types, the single channel and dual channel. With the single channel, you can install any number of memories while dual channel, you can install the memory in the pair at the same size and speed.
Interface Connectors - It connects the reader to the motherboard. IDE or ATA (advance technology attachment) It connects hard drives and optical drives where you can attach two drives on the same cable for the master and the other is the slave. The new motherboard uses SATA (serial advance technology attachment) it is much faster than the ATA but it can only support a disc. And over the connector floppy disks is almost obsolete today. It can only support the floppy drive.
Expansion Slots - There are 3 types of expansion slots that are most popular in use today. The first slot is the AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port), it is used in the video card. It comes with 2x, 4x and 8x speed at which the 8x is the fastest. The second is the PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect), which is commonly used on almost all the cards like, LAN, sound, modem and other I / O controllers. And the latest PCI-Express (or just PCI-E), PCI-E 16x is mainly used for the graphics card is now the most widely used because it is much faster than AGP. The 1x PCI-E is used for joint expansion cards as the network card, sound card and other peripheral expansion cards.
Rear panel connectors - This part is a connector on the back cover of your CPU. They are used to connect your mouse, keyboard, printer, monitor, audio, microphone and other devices you want to connect.
