Backup and archiving for photographers

File based workflow

Your workflow based on files has many advantages over traditional film and slides. All images are generally the medium of your choice, like hard disk, CD, DVD or data tapes. Mostly, they reside on a hard disk for quick access. This, however, brings the risk of accidental deletion of files. The Readers may also be affected by the corruption of system files, malware, viruses and hardware failures. Consequently, managing your data is necessary for its preservation.

First Step: Backup

How to choose the right storage media
