External Hard Drive
Last week I had a conversation with a man who had been saving for an external hard drive. It recently completed his father's laptop with his collection of rendering the laptop useless enough, but he hesitated to remove this. Rather than to suggest that you buy an external hard drive for £ 70 + I did it in the direction of an external box for £ 6.50 and it suggested taking the hard drive to his old PC that had to be binned.
External hard drives are a big market, but in many situations, they are redundant, and most users have purchased more than one computer, chances are that when he arrived at the end of its useful life, it would be considered as close to nothing. Most charity shops do not even old machines that the health and safety regulations mean it is often impossible sell them on without proper documentation. Although it is possible to properly and securely wipe data off an old hard drive, the number of stories horror that you hear such a large number of players reaching the end of their life with a 10mm drill bit set by them.
Instead of simply destroying your old hard drive, why not try using it by jumping into an external box instead? This way, you have both given yourself a new external hard drive (usually less than 10 pounds) and kept all your old files that can be sorted and stored in case of need. Except not necessary just wipe the hard drive and start over from the disc as auxiliary memory (especially useful in the case of a laptop) a device for data transfer or even a backup disk.
The following points should be considered when purchasing a housing External Hard Drive:
Size - Laptop hard drives tend to be 2.5 Old "while their desktop equivalents tend to be 3.5 inches in size and it is obviously important that you get the enclosure for your particular drive. Not only do you lose fitness 3.5 "drive in a 2.5-inch enclosure, but a 3.5" drive requires a separate power supply while the smaller 2.5 "models can generally consume sufficient energy from the USB port.
HDD Interface - Your hard drive has already connected to the computer via an IDE or SATA interface - is mainly determined by the age of the aircraft. Newest readers tend to be of a design SATA, but if you are a reader recuing from an old machine, it is more likely to have an IDE connection. Both are quite markedly different and that identification should not be a problem; IDE connectors are fairly long with 39-pin (a pin in the middle of the connector is away to ensure that the cable is properly connected), while the SATA connections are a small pin hole 7 with a right angle at one end.
Computer Interface - Most speakers tend to use a USB 2.0 interface and in most cases this would be the most appropriate method of connecting to your PC. Try to avoid the most USB 1.1 devices that look identical but perform significantly slower. Also, check if your computer supports FireWire or eSATA or, where appropriate, they can offer faster data transfer speeds between your computer and external hard drive.
