Fixed Power explained - Power Factor Correction explained
Power Factor Correction Explained - As a company, you hopefully now be aware of the carbon reduction commitment, a mandatory exchange of carbon emissions in order to cover all organizations employing more than 6,000 MWh of electricity per year. What you may not be aware of are the solutions available to help you achieve your goals.
Here is an explanation of Power Factor Correction
Most industrial and some commercial operations use electric motors and related facilities such as conveyors, HVAC, escalators, elevators, lighting and machinery, all introduce different measures of inefficiencies in the current form of complementary learned "inductive reactive currents" on one of the sites of electrical power.
Inductive reactive currents serve no purpose and the additional burden on the electricity supply by reducing the effectiveness, reducing the use of switchgear, transformers and raise electricity bills each month.
Power factor in simple terms is a measure of electrical efficiency, power factor typical non- corrected in most industrial and commercial organizations is about 0.80pf (80% electrically efficient) which in real terms, a transformer 1000kVA can not provide a load 800KW, reducing the use of 20%, which can also be applied to the device and cables.
Power factor correction target the "inductive reactive currents" by the introduction of smart capacitors on the supply to counter inductive element of the charge and increase the electrical efficiency to approximately 1.00pf (100% electrically efficient)
Power Factor Correction can offer substantial savings on monthly bills for utilities and reduce the current circuit to allow other charges to be fitted on an electrical system also ineffective.
