The CD consists of 4 layers. These layers are a reflective layer, layer disc polycarbonate layer lacquer layer and works of art. The information is written to the CD on the polycarbonate layer and the laser light is reflected by the layer reflective. The lacquer layer disc CD prohibits oxidation. Layer implementation consists of a screen that was printed on top of the disc compact. In CD media format, the information is transferred to the polycarbonate layer in the form of pits and lands. The pits and lands represent data binaries. Continuation of the earth or in a pit indicates a zero, meaning that it is "false". While on the other transformation of the land hand or pit to land means one, which means it is "true".

The CD format has been strengthened and DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) technology was introduced. DVD Digital Versatile Disc format is the result of combined efforts of the two front disc formats, the MMCD (Multimedia CD) and SD (Super Density) disk. Developers MMCD and SD formats disk agreement on a single standard DVD rather than becoming part of a media disc format war. Therefore, the result has been a standard DVD media technology. DVD format is more advantageous than the CD technology because it can hold greater volumes of information. DVD disc (single sided) has the ability to record six times quantity of data a CD can hold. Double-sided DVD discs are also available, including the recording capacity is twice more than single-layer DVD discs. Both double and single side DVD discs are commonly used for distribution of commercial films. It allows the definition audio standard Video up to 2 hours with other additional features like games.
