Pen Drive - History and Facts
Often considered a JumpDrive, the pen drive is a portable flash memory solution, designed to carry data files from one computer to another. The product can include audio, video and data files, and is brilliantly simple: all the user has to do is plug the USB into a computer from a USB port, drag and drop the files needed for the hard disk, remove it and plug it into another machine.
Durable, scratch-resistant and portable, the pen drive is a marked improvement on previous data transport devices, such as CDs and diskettes, and a constant source of relief and higher education for millions of people around the world.
History
At dawn the new millennium, it became clear that traditional storage solutions are no longer equal. People now need to move large files between computers in the blink of an eye, using intermediate technology that has been quick to set, easy to carry and difficult to damage. A clutch software companies, including SanDisk (then known as M-Systems), Lexar, Trek and IBM began working on a solution that would meet these needs.
Their solution was the revolutionary USB flash drive, which was gradually developed in recent years of the 20th century. In 2000 Trek released the first flash drive, called Thumb Drive, Singapore, IBM introduced a model similar to the market North America. Just a few months later Lexar introduced a Compact Flash (CF) with a USB connection and a companion card reader / writer and USB cable, this which eliminated the need for a USB hub, and has the flash player stylus to enjoy tremendous growth over the next decade.
How does it work?
Each pen drive has a small circuit board (PCBs) for storing data, a USB connector and a memory chip NAND flash technology using multi-level, this revolutionary solution was developed by SanDisk and Toshiba in 2005. The technological components are enclosed in a hard outer shell, made of metal, rubber or plastic, and the USB connector can be wrapped in an outer cap or protected a retractable tape, which allows the user to pull the plug when not in use.
The reader pen name is actually an anachronism; readers typically rely on mechanical systems, but this little gem is not. The player is run as a nod vestiges of the past because computers read and write data to flash drive using the same system that controls a mechanical hard drive, with the storage contained in the computer operating system and user interface as another drive.

Within 10 years, the pen drive has evolved from an additional option for lovers of technology in an essential basis for all computer users. People have found more reasons to use a pen drive, and they were encouraged by a rapid increase in storage capacity and readers beginning pen was room for only 8 MB, but it soon increased the improved technology - now you can purchase a USB key with a capacity of 128 GB, provided you're willing to pay top dollar for the privilege.
The growth of the USB has made the good old disk disk nearly obsolete. Until 2005, most PCs were equipped with floppy drives as standard. Now, given the pervasiveness of Pen drive, designers are putting aside old drives and mounting USB ports instead. The revolution is almost over!
