Dont Eat

For those of you who have been on another planet for the past year, Morgan Spurlock is a filmmaker who spent a month whole eating only McDonald's food and filming the decline of his health, expanding waistlines and other alarming consequences of this regime damaging.
The result was the gripping documentary, Super Size Me, which earned a well deserved Oscar nomination.
Do not eat this book, but an obvious offshoot of the film, is a project worthy of its own, with much to offer fans and beginners Spurlock.
If you saw the movie, you will appreciate the behind the scenes perspectives revealed in Do not Eat This Book. But the thrust of the book should appeal to anyone with an interest in the fast food industry and its role in modern society. Certainly if you are a parent or teacher who cares about what children eat, you need this book.
Title - Do not eat this book - is a parody on the warning labels emblazoned on almost all products from the United States.
The warnings are intended to avert the kinds of court cases of people not only people stupid enough to put their hands in a grass cutter or hum error gel inserts silcone sneaker mints, but also shameless enough to blame the manufacturer of their monitoring, and well deserved misfortune.
Spurlock has no time for such frivolous litigation. But he argues convincingly that such cases are very different types of class actions continues against the giant tobacco and food businesses.
It should be obvious for anyone but the most brain dead that lay hands on the blades of an electric mower is bad for you. But until recently, it was not so obvious that cigarettes and fast food are bad for you.
For tobacco companies for decades hid evidence that their product was a health hazard, cleverly designed to be addictive. At the same time they have spent huge amounts of money on marketing to create the image that cigarettes were "cool."
With the success of the original shares in the class of tobacco, attitudes began to change.
As Spurlock points out in "Suddenly it was clear that sticking a cigarette in your mouth was not quite the same as those that stick to the mint in your mouth sneaker. No one spent billlions and billions of dollars in marketing, advertising and promotions that these guys mints basketball would make him cool, trendy and sexy. Big Tobacco has done exactly that for smokers. "
He spends much of the rest Do not eat this book construction a similar case against overwhelming the fast food industry.
The parallels are unavoidable. Fast food chains like McDonald's spend billions to convince their children eat unhealthy, fattening products will make you popular and cool.
Their "Super Size" politics, cynically designed to prey on the natural instinct of man to obtain value for money, is roundly criticized, with experience the copyright in the film Super Size Me serving as the main witness for the prosecution.
And if that was not strong enough to prevent your children to eat junk food outside school, there is the growing trend of fast food chains offer funds to schools short of money in exchange for branding and advertising. In several cases, fast food chains have even moved to within school canteens.
Fortunately, all is not bleak. Spurlock heap praise on the schools that offer health local food in cafeterias. It also provides advice and a list of resources for parents and teachers who seek to turn the tide in their own communities.
This, combined with occasional Spurlock, humorous writing style to make a quick read, playful and ultimately optimistic. Its accessibility makes Do not eat this book an ideal teaching tool, especially when combined with Spurlock Super Size Me documentary.
If you prefer a more measured approach, the style of investigative journalism, Do not eat this book can be a bit light for your convenience - Eric Schlosser brilliant Fast Food Nation will probably be more to your taste.
I conclude with a word of caution. If you print this notice, please do not eat not. It may give you indigestion, and I can not afford the continuation!
