Evaporative cooler - Maintenance of bearings

Oiling and inspection evaporation or your Swamp Cooler Cooler bearings can be save headaches and expense. On most coolers, lubrication of bearings is a very simple task. The majority of small vessels Commercial models come with a bronze bearing. There are no moving parts such as bearings there are ball bearings. bronze bearings are manufactured with a bronze sleeve in a housing made of cast steel. The blower shaft rotates inside the sleeve bronze. These bearings allow movement flexible and low coefficient of friction between two solid surfaces. The transition from bronze bearing is generally about 1 / 8-3 / 16 of an inch thick and is porous to continuous lubrication. You see a cup of oil in the upper tier. Open the cup and put on 5 to 10 drops of light machine oil in the tube of oil. This should be done at least once a year to Cooler use of light, or several times a year for intensive use. Even if the bronze bearings are relatively inexpensive, they are quite durable. Often, if oiled regularly and the belt tension is maintained properly, The bearings will last the duration of your evaporative cooler.

Inspect support

It is very important that you examine the thickness of the tubes of bronze in the oil bearing. As I mentioned earlier in the round bronze bearing is only about 1 / 8 to 3 / 16 inch thick. The turbine shaft steel continues to rotate in the bronze sleeve. Once again it is very important that you examine the thickness of the sheath of bronze. When any part of the bronze bushing has worn to half its original thickness of the bearing should be changed. The rough tree will quickly wear through a new bronze bearing. At this point, I would recommend install a more expensive ball bearing screw fixation of the inner ring. This will add to the inner ring of the bearing fan shaft and deterioration of the tree will not cause future problems. If the rolling ball never goes to it will never damage the tree fan.

Change Cooler Bearings

Unlike most other types of units evaporative coolers are constantly blowing moist air produce that creates rust on the fan shaft, pulleys, and bearings. This makes often more difficult to change the bearings. There are two things I always recommend when changing bearings Cooler. Use a penetrating solvent on the parts that are rusted together. This happens often on the blower pulley and shaft and the inner ring of ball bearing and shaft. Even after have used a penetrating solvent sometimes I had to use a pulley puller to remove the fan pulley. The other recommendation is very important, always sand the rust from the fan shaft before removing the fan pulley or bearing. If you do not sand any rust from the tree, you'll not only problems of withdrawal and on the pulley, it will be difficult to slide on the new tree. You might also be tempted to use a hammer to tap the new bearing in place, which often can damage the bearing. As you can see, a few pieces of fabric with sand sand the rust of the shaft will make the job much easier and saves time in the long term.
