If you suspect that your hard disk / floppy disk is failing, you need to backup your data immediately. A disc is most likely to fail than your computer starts. So if you have reason to believe that your hard drive is about to fail, back up now before you turn off your computer. The next time you turn could be too late. Your disk contains multiple disks spinning, which means that elements mechanical. It is equally likely that these mechanisms could cause your hard drive to fail, as malware, viruses and poor maintenance. It is rare but not unknown, for a disk unexpectedly.

Usually there are signs in the path of several error messages frequent, the sluggish response and mechanical noise. All drives make some noise, usually a soft humming noise. If you've noticed on your hard disk to become stronger with a grinding sound, then it is a sure sign of trouble. If you start to hear "clicking" noises in your hard drive, the more remarkable because it loads your operating system or other programs, then a mechanical failure is imminent. You need record and save your important files now.

Do not wait until tomorrow and do not turn off your PC. If it is impossible so you can save all the main disk, then at least save all your personal files and precious photos. You can easily copy or "burn" then on CD, make two or more backups. No CD-R by hand? Then copy them onto a Memory Stick Flash. However, if you use a flash drive, I would still recommend you put them on CD or DVD when you can. Flash drives have a limited time. Once you have your most important files and photography course, then you can think of a full backup.

The quickest and easiest way to save everything to a disk external hard drive. These have fallen sharply in price recently so it is worth considering, even if your hard drive is quiet as a mouse, it is reassuring to have one with all your saved files on it, just in case. Again, it is extremely rare for a disc unexpectedly. I work with computers since 1978 and I knew one. Become familiar with the sound of your hard drive, then if that familiar humm "becomes stronger, you know you need to register your files. And really, you should have a back up anyway.
