Very pleased with this drive.
This is the third hard drive WD drive I've ever purchased. I was happy with them so far. The other two have replaced the originals in a 13 "and a desktop VAIO DELL. It has The 320 replaced the original on my iMAC. Curiously, replace the hard drive of my iMac is a Western Digital. This disc is so quiet that I can not hear it over the background noise in my home office. It starts faster than the original and has TONS of space. I'm trying to get a second to replace the original disc in my new MacBook Pro Core i7. Apple wants $ 50 to upgrade the 5400 rpm 500 GB of origin to a 500 GB 7200 rpm. For $ 80 more, you'll 4x storage and keep the old drive! As usual, shopping at Amazon was easy and the drive arrived as promised. WD and thank you Amazon!

Calm
The disk I bought this for my Shuttle SG41J1 Plus and it works very quietly. Usually, you may hear a drive while it is being accessed. It helps that also has a memory 64 MB cache, so it does not seem to run a little faster too.

2 TB Caviar Green - Good price for a storage lot
You have the drive last week and have established as my offsite archieve reader. I bought the Thermaltake BlacX eSATA station host and use this drive in this device. When I got it, I did a full format which I think is a very good idea before you use a floppy first. It took forever - 6 1 / 2 hours on a very fast PC. But again, is a 2 TB storage space and makes an entry in each sector and marking bad sectors, etc. are ended up with 1.8 TB available. I have Vista not had any problems with the formatting and use. But if you have XP, you will need to go Western Digital to site and download and run some "align" software since this is an "enhanced format" drive that does not work with XP until you run the patch.
The player docking station, is as fast as my internal C drive terms of file transfer and access. I made a transfer of 340 GB of files from my picture files in 1 h 46 min, while testing negative and working in Photoshop. Fast enough. It would have taken more than six hours if I used the USB connection on the housing BlacX. The disc does not seem to be very hot but again, it is outside the dock over a speaker.
So far so good and that Western Digital and recommended as they produce high-quality Seagate. The only comment I would make is the package from Amazon. He could and would have been much better. Western Digital drive pretty packed securely in a box, that Amazon threw in another box as they do with books and put a small piece bubble wrap on top. I do not know what they thought was supposed to accomplish that box into the box was for securely and doubtless clung around transit. AMAZON, please upgrade your electronics packaging!
