IBM LTO-4 T1600P Tape Drive Is Ideal For Demanding Environments

IBM T1600P drive is based on compact LTO-4 technology. IBM T1600P LTO4 drive is intelligently developed to provide ultra high speed and exceptional data integrity. Advanced features incorporated in IBM T1600P drive help to optimize the storage capacity and performance. IBM T1600P delivers 800 GB uncompressed capacity.
In order to speed up the read/write operations, IBM has employed 256 MB buffer in the T1600P LTO-4 drive. High speed IBM LTO-4 drive provides advanced adaptive data compression at 2:1. IBM has engineered an innovative DSM (digital speed matching) system that assists the LTO-4 tape drive to reliably perform read/write operations. IBM T1600P offers more choice to the data managers. IBM T1600P provides 4 Gbps fibre channel, ultra 160 SCSI LVD and 3 GB SAS interface. These multi interfaces allows the data mangers to make flexible attachments thus enhancing the backup system's overall efficiency.
LTO 4 tape format is ideal for departmental data backups, workstations and data intensive environments. LTO4 tape technology is also used by the financial companies. Robust base film of IBM LTO-4 tape provides exceptional per GB cost. IBM has redesigned the architecture of T1600P LTO4 drive and has incorporated new features including advanced error correction and advanced tape threading. These robust and powerful features further elevate the reliability and output characteristics. Other top class brands of LTO-4 tape are Sony LTO4 (LTX800G), Maxell LTO-4 tape (183906), Quantum LTO 4 (MR-L4MQN-01) and HP LTO4 (C7974A).
Good news is that the intelligent T1600P drive is compatible with prior ultrium tape generations. These versions of ultrium tapes are LTO-2 tape (read only) and LTO-3 (read and write). So with IBM LTO4 drive, clients can use the LTO2 and LTO3 media as well. Therefore as a result, the previous investments in tape automation systems, media tapes and drives are secured.
To assure optimized data compression, IBM has employed its patented compression algorithm in T1600P tape drives. Compression algorithm is specifically developed to double the media capacity of IBM LTO4. In compression algorithm of T1600P IBM tape drive, the data compression scheme is dynamically swapped between the pass-thru and adaptive lossless data compression (ALDC) mode. For exceptional data integrity, IBM has developed a separate circuit in the drive that performs simultaneous decompression during the process of data compression. Compact LTO-4 tape technology helps to further shorten the data restore and backup times as the reduced number of tape cartridges will be needed to enhance the backup window. Therefore the data administrators can perform their entire backup storage and retrieval tasks within quick time span.
