The Sony Ericsson G900 is based on version 9.1 of Symbian operating System and 3.0 version of UIQ, an open platform that is offering a great potential for the business, multimedia and productivity applications, and as well broadens the UIQ platform into bigger and more mainstream market portions. Coming to the messaging part, the phone supports MMS, SMS, EMS, MIME, SMTP, IMAP4, POP3, Push email, Web mail and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync as the messaging services.
As far the multimedia is concerned, the G900 supports Real Audio 9, DLS, XMF, WMA, WAV, RMF, MIDI, SP-MIDI, iMelody, AU, AMR-NB, HE AAC, AAC+,eAAC+,AAC-LC and MP3 formats for audio, WMV, RealMedia, 3GPP and MPEG-4 (H.264, H.263) formats for video, JPEG, GIF, BMP, WBMP, PNG, MBM, SVG Tiny 1.1 formats for images, GIF format for animations and RTSP a/c to 3GPP format for streaming. As far as the Local Connectivity issues are concerned, the G900 mobile phone supports PC software, VoIP Support, Wi-Fi (802.11b), USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0 options.
The extra features that are supported by G900 include 5.0 mega pixel camera with 3x digital zoom and touch auto-focus, streaming audio/video, Flight mode, FM radio with the RDS, TrackID, Playnow, MusicDJ, video and Picture blogging, RSS feed support, Trans-reflective display for the bright light conditions, Chinese keypad, Stokes and Pinyin input, Chinese and Latin handwriting recognition with streaming audio/video Media Player.
