Sony Ericsson has recently been busy with the release of a number of new handsets. The popular Vivaz has seen something of a facelift with the addition of a full QWERTY keyboard which offers efficient text entry in addition to the use of the touchscreen. It is packed with features and offers appeal on a number of levels.
The operating system of choice is Symbian Series 60, had which works in conjunction with a 720 MHZ processor to provide a lightning fast and smooth responses of the user interface. Combined, these handle demanding applications with ease. The standard features and applications of the Vivaz Pro include a versatile media player which supports many different formats of music and video files, along with a stereo FM radio player and a number of pre-installed games for additional entertainment options. Business users will be attracted to the quick office document reader, voice memo recorder, whilst social networkers will love the Facebook and twitter applications.
One of the main hardware differences between the Sony Ericsson Vivaz and the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro is the camera. The Vivaz has an eight mega pixel digital camera, whereas the Vivaz Pro features a camera with five mega pixels. This is still operates at a high pixel resolution so it results in excellent quality photos. The task of taking photos is simplified somewhat thanks to a number of image enhancing features such as touch focus, Autofocus, face & smile detection, LED flash and image stabilisation. Geo-tagging operates thanks to GPS and automatically records the location at which a photo was taken. Of course, the camera can also shoot video and this is in 720p quality at 24 frames per second, amongst the highest quality footage available on a camera phone currently.
A micro SD slot is provided to back up to be standard internal storage of 75 MB. The former comes with a pre-installed 8 GB memory card so ample storage is offered. However, should further storage be required, the micro SD slot can accommodate a memory card of up to 16 GB. The internal phonebook can store a seemingly endless number of contacts and boasts the Photocall feature.
GPRS & EDGE are both utilised in class 10 versions in order to provide the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro with its connections to cellular networks. In areas covered by 3G, an HSDPA connection provides access to the Internet speeds of up to 10.2 mega bytes per second (along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second). Wi-Fi Technology is provided as standard to provide a faster Internet connection whenever it detects the signals provided by wireless Internet routers. In order to connect to compatible phones and computers, both Bluetooth and micro USB connections are included, which allows users to carry out a number of tasks ranging from backing up contact info from the phonebook and managing media files etc.
The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro offers versatility in terms of navigation and text input. The 3.2 inch TFT resistive touch screen operates at a pixel resolution of 360x 640 in order to display up to 16M colours. This provides superb clarity and detail of on screen imagery making it perfect for viewing photos and video files. The QWERTY keyboard offers an efficient means of text entry and is ideal for those who prefer the use of a physical keyboard over that of a touchscreen.
A feature rich functionality and aesthetic appeal of the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro mean it looks set to be a popular handset.
