HP DLT Data Cartridges hold up to 80 GB compressed data. The HP backup tape media cartridges allow users to store and restore data with confidence, accuracy and hence improve the efficiency. The HP VS1 160GB Data Cartridges offer higher capacity and low cost per GB for customers with prior investments in DLT backup technology. The HP backup tapes provide the best solution and services to the IT managers in corporate and Enterprise data centers who need to back up value servers in a reasonable time frame with accuracy and efficiency.
The HP backup tapes have durability up to 1,000,000 head passes or an average of 10,000 loads/unloads. These tapes have been rigorously tested for optimal reliability and data integrity. HP DLT media with HP drives create the exceptional back up solution for data backup.
The HP DLT Cleaning Cartridges provide up to 20 cleans. HP DLT1 has Tape sense System that rejects damaged media to ensure reliability is not compromised. The HP cartridges have solid and liquid lubricants in tape binder system which reduces tape and drive head wear.
The VS1 media uses a thinner base film enabling an overall thickness reduction of 50% versus older media types. This results in a longer tape with more capacity. It has improved leader pin threading and accurate tape reel positioning, which ensures load/unload reliability at the critical point where the drive engages with the media and pulls tape from the spool.
The new design areas include:
o The DAT-160 media (essentially wider DAT40 media in a new cartridge height)
o Tape path for DAT 160 media with 180-degree wrap. The DAT 72 and DAT 40 tape path is well defined and proven in millions of drives
o Interface ASICS, SCSI, USB, and SAS. HP designs and develops these ASICS in-house.
o Cartridge sensors to detect which tape path to operate.
