Laptop Computers - It's All in Your Lap

Smaller, faster, clearer, brighter and more accurate: the rate of technological change for home entertainment, audio-visual products, film and computers is nothing short of astonishing. The range of products available for the consumer within these categories seems to be limitless as does the range of prices. However, now smaller device also means better and more competitive prices, and that is just what we want to hear.
To keep track of the latest developments and products is a daunting task. A few hours of research in consumer products magazines or via the internet or in supplements found in booklets is time well spent. Magazines, for example, that do comparative reviews or "product shootouts" are the most useful. Of course, if you are feeling fit you go from dealer to dealer and do your own testing or you can leave it to the experts. But if you want more convenience and easy access, then you can just browse online.
Laptops
Computers so far have come up in the above with great regularity. Why? They are becoming integral to photography and many other systems - particularly the evermore powerful laptop computer. As well as being the central player in multimedia systems they are multimedia systems in themselves.
Laptops get smaller and more efficient with each generation. Now you can write a letter, scan the internet, send an e-mail, listen to some soothing music and talk to someone at the other side of the world in real time (if you have a digital camera the size of an apple attached to your monitor) - all at the same time. However, you do not necessarily have to get a new laptop every time some outstanding new development appears on the market. Computer companies are increasingly moving towards providing all you need to update you current laptop -- not only software but hardware items like microprocessors, add-on items like CD-ROM drives, and hard-disk upgrades.
Palmtops
Besides laptops, another zooming technology is with palmtops. Not long ago they are considered to be efficient address books with a few other gimmicks attached. Now you can do almost everything as much as a laptop without the speed-- whether you want an address, get some translations done, send a fax, peruse the internet or do some simple word processing.
Where all this technology is leading us is anyone's guess. But an important part of recent innovations has been the size of the screen, as much as the increasingly powerful microprocessors. Screens now are almost as large as a desktop monitor that allows multi-task operations to be visible and well ordered.
The technology behind this change, as most people by now know comes down to digitalization - from telephones to sound systems to cameras to computers to videos. But these items do not sit in isolation -- which is the beauty and the future of digitalization -- they can talk to each other. Although it is bothering on oversimplification, this is a good definition of what multimedia should be.
