This article mainly related to the backup storage and recovery. It describes what the hardware is used in the backup storage and recovery. Thus, the hardware used in many areas of backup storage. This is not the article to highlight functions of this part of the material. It provides information and other technical details of the equipment used in the backup storage recovery technology and.
There are three main materials are applied in the storage backup and recovery technology. They are Server, subsystems and switches. Each party has its own equipment. See the technical details of information and this part of the material.
Server - Master Server

Media Server
The media server carries out relief operations under the direction of the master, with all the backup data stored locally on media server and its respective storage devices. The same requirements above apply to Master Server Media Server also.
DAS, SAN, NAS storage subsystems
Direct Attached Storage (DAS), storage area network (SAN) and Network Storage (NAS) are the three main types of storage subsystems used in the storage management backup hardware. DAS is the basic element in a storage system, and can be used directly or indirectly when used in SAN and NAS systems. NAS is the highest layer of storage and can be built over a SAN or DAS storage system. SAN is somewhere between a DAS and NAS.
Equipment used in the storage subsystem - SCSI
It is abbreviated as Small Computer System Interface. It is the storage component famous under-utilized in all computer interfaces for small and medium level. A mechanism called "Cable sharing" used here. It can support data transfer rates up to 320 Mb / s.
PATA
Each parallel attachment technology is not named PATA. It can support data transfer up to 133 Mb / s. Now replaces the SATA PATA in all areas. But UDMA133 recent version is used in certain sub-systems depends on the customer requirement.
SATA
Serial Advanced Technology Attachment is commonly called SATA. It is the hard disk interface used very common in all personal systems. SATA Port allows a device to connect to it.
SAS
This means Serial Attached SCSI. The name itself says, it can be considered as a merger SATA and SCSI interface. It has different data transfer rates as 185, 374, 750 and 1500 Mb / s. SATA devices can connect to SAS, but the devices SAS can not communicate with SATA ports. It is specifically designed for high-end servers. SAS offers the best of SCSI and SATA.
CF
Fiber Channel is a key benefit of its length. It works the same as SATA, but it can cover the distance to 2 km (Example: Single Mode Fibre). FC offers speeds of 100, 200 and 400 Mb / s.
iSCSI
Internet SCSI is not known as iSCSI. It is normally used in all local networks. It is a low cost alternative to FC. Easier to manage because it uses the common TCP / IP and Ethernet switches together.
AoE
ATA over Ethernet. It is a very low cost alternative to iSCSI. It encapsulates the ATA commands in Ethernet frames with low and avoids using TCP / IP. A large number of add-on software initiator / target will support both iSCSI and AoE.
Ethernet Switches
A switch is something that is used to enable or disable electronic devices. However, computer networking, a switch is used to connect several computers together. As it is an external device, it becomes part of hardware devices used in the operation of storage and backup and recovery. This connection was made within a local network (LAN) and is identical to an Ethernet hub in terms of appearance, except with more intelligence. These switches not only receive data packets, but also have the ability to inspect them before forwarding them to the next computer. It is, they can find the source, the data content, and identify the destination as well. Because of this unique, it sends data to the relevant system connected only thus using less bandwidth to high price performance. Ethernet switches were used to provide connections and link aggregation between backup clients, media servers, and the master server using network speeds of 100 Mb / s, 1 Gb / s and 10 Gb / sec.
