Over the years hard disk drive technology has advanced beyond the expectations of many owners of personal computers through out the world. However if you are interested in purchasing a new personal computer you should know exactly the types of hard disk drives that are available on the market today.
First you need to know that the hard drive interface is the hardware that handles all the exchanges of data between the computer and the hard disk drive. The first and most common type of hard disk interface is ATA or Advanced Technology Attachment and is was separated in two different categories such as the original ATA also known as the parallel ATA and the newer and faster platform of SATA or Serial Advanced technology
Attachment.
Another interface the disk drive uses is SCSI or small computer system interface and it is generally used on servers and high end workstation personal computers. The SCSI is the fastest interface in the market however it is also more expensive then the Serial ATA models that offer almost the same performance.
There is now a model of hard disk drive that runs on an enhanced platform for the SATA drive and it is bluntly called SATA 2.
This type of HDD in combination with size the minimum starting at 250 GB and the rotations per minute that start at 7200 rpm make this SATA 2 drive a weapon to be reckoned with.
Pretty much if you are browsing for a HDD and you are not sure about the choice you should make then I would definitely go for the SATA models. Great performance at a decent price.
