LTO-5 Backup Tape Drives Are Supported By the Intelligent IBM TS3100 Tape Library

The more you have data, the more it is at risk.  Hardware/software malfunction, malicious alterations, viruses and natural disasters are some of the major causes that can affect the data integrity and even lead to complete loss of information. This concern applies to all organizations ranging from small to large enterprises. Growth in data volume is outpacing the media capacity, which has increased the demand for more cost-effective, efficient and high performance backup solution to manage this avalanche of massive data.

LTO tape media technology is the most preferred solution for data intensive environments and space-constrained businesses. High performance LTO-5 tape media, automated libraries and tape drives deliver significant efficiency gains and advantages over the prior LTO generations.  Organizations using the previous versions of LTO tapes will find more compelling and advantageous features to upgrade their backup recording system.  LTO-5 tape devices deliver higher capacity of 3 TB (compressed).  IBM TS3100 tape library is engineered to lower the maintenance & operational costs and provide consistent performance during heavy workloads.

TS3100 library supports up to 24 backup tapes and 1-2 tape drives.  IBM TS3100 library provides economical restore and backup solution in random/sequential access mode along with barcode reader.  Remote management functionality is offered by TS3100 tape library that enables the users to access the tape library from remote locations through web interface.  IBM has introduced a new highly advantageous "path fail-over" system.  In case if the control path or host adapter is lost, the path fail-over" system automatically provides an alternate control path without abandoning the current task in progress.

IBM LTO-5 ultrium drive and storage tape are specifically engineered to offer unmatched reliability with support for data encryption. IBM TS3100 tape library can utilize the encryption capability of IBM LTO-5 tape drive through the 8 GB/s FC and 6 GB/s SAS interfaces.  Top selling LTO tapes are:
