How to Solve ‘STOP 0x000000ED Error in Windows XP
Windows XP encompass a personalized look and several security features that give it more stable experience than Windows earlier versions. Built on Windows 2000 kernel, Windows XP is a popular operating system used for personal computers. But you might face different issues while upgrading to Windows XP or starting a Windows XP-based system. This might occur if file system is damaged and you might be forced to reformat the hard disk and restore lost data from backup. However, if backup seems to be invalid that it cannot restore the required information, you should use Data Recovery applications.
You might receive the below error message when attempting to start a Windows XP-based system or starting the system first time while upgrading to Windows XP:
“STOP 0x000000ED (0xaaaaaaaa,0xbbbbbbbb,0xcccccccc,0xdddddddd)

At subsequent attempts, you cannot boot the system.
Cause
Possible causes for the above error message are listed below: · Your system is using UDMA (Ultra Direct Memory Access) controller for hard disk and either BIOS is configured to force the faster UDMA modes or you are using incorrect connector cable for connecting UDMA drive to controller. You might suffer data loss if you are using inappropriate IDE cable for faster UDMA modes. · You are unable to mount the file system as it is damaged
You can analyze the error for possible reason. If the file system damage is the issue, you will receive 0xC0000032 as the second parameter of the error message
Solution
To resolve the above behavior, you should follow these methods:
- You should configure BIOS settings to use ‘Fail-Safe’ default settings and should reactivate the options which have been used most frequently. You also need to replace the UDMA cable with 80-wire cable if using 40-wire cable.
- If file system corruption is the issue, you need to use Recovery Console to run chkdsk /r command with administrative rights. If this doesn’t resolve your issue, reformat the hard disk and use your recent data backup to restore the lost information.
This might occur that you don’t have valid data backup. In such situations, it is recommended to use commercial Data Recovery Software. Such tools provide safe design, intuitive interface, complete documentation and full Data Recovery results.
